What Happened?

The cost of hurricane damage

In September 2017 two category five hurricanes Irma and Maria inflicted life changing destruction on the islands of Barbuda, St Martin, St Bart’s, The BVI, Turks and Caicos, Cuba, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda and other parts of the region.

Between the two hurricanes there were over 200 deaths and over 3 billion in damages. Full recovery may be years away

What are we doing?

Phase 1 (September-December 2017)

In response to the devastation, Living Water Community and the Joint Chambers of Commerce (Trinidad and Tobago) and the Global Business Leadership Forum developed a plan of action to provide relief:

  1. 35 containers were sent to the affected islands;
  2. A team was on the ground mere days after the Hurricanes made landfall providing a range of services;
  3. A team of Builders went to the affected islands to access the damage and to build a warehouse to store supplies;
  4. This team starts constructing of Schools in January 2018;
  5. Vehicles were sent to aid with the distribution process;
  6. We have teams of volunteers on a rotation system providing support and assistance;

Phase 2

We plan to rebuild a minimum of 200 homes on the islands most devastated by the hurricanes, starting in January 2018.

  1. Anguilla
  2. Antigua Barbuda
  3. BVI
  4. Dominica
