Director Mercy Foundation and Living Water Community, coordinating relief efforts in Trinidad

Suzanne Dowdy

After the hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the Caribbean Islands Dominica in particular; the response of both the business community and citizens from all walks of life was nothing short of astounding. It was an unprecedented expression of generosity in the form of donations of all kinds. Daily we received donations and the collection point at our centre was filled to capacity and had to be cleared often, in some cases twice a day.

This would have contributed significantly to providing relief to our brothers and sisters in the islands. Citizens offered to serve, receiving, sorting supplies, packaging on palettes to be shipped. Volunteerism at its best, the response of persons wanting to travel to the islands to serve was also overwhelming.

Presentation College First Sea Scouts collected and delivered relief supplies for our hurricane-stricken neighbours in Dominica.
